Digital X-Rays

Digital radiography represents one of the greatest technological advances in medical imaging over the last decade. The use of photographic films for X-ray imaging will be obsolete in a few years. An appropriate analogy is the replacement of typical film based cameras with modern digital cameras. Images can be taken, immediately examined, deleted, corrected, and subsequently sent to a requesting General Practitioner.

Doctor’s Physical Examinations

At DX Centre we have a full time medical practitioner. The doctor fully versed on occupational health conditions carries out physical examinations on employees during our pneumoconiosis examinations outings. The National Social Security Authority (NSSA), medical examination form has to be completed by a doctor to confirm the fitness of the employees before we send the results back to our corporate clients.

Visual Screener Test

A vision screening is a relatively short examination that can indicate the presence of a vision problem or a potential vision problem. A vision screening cannot diagnose exactly what is wrong with your eyes; instead, it can indicate that you should make an appointment with an ophthalmologist or optometrist for a more comprehensive dilated eye examination. Good eyesight is critical in a broad working environment.

Spirometry

Spirometry is the most common of the lung function tests. These tests look at how well your lungs work. Spirometry shows how well you breathe in and out. Breathing in and out can be affected by lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and cystic fibrosis. Spirometry is mostly done on employees subjected to fumes, dust, paint or pest sprays. The results are produced instantly

Audiometry

Workers subjected to noisy environment need to have audiometry (examination of the ear) done to monitor their hearing capacity. Each ear is examined separately. Our audiometers carry calibration certificates. The results produced are issued to management for information and treatment as necessary.

Drivers Medical Exam

DX Centre carries out haulage truck drivers’ annual medical examinations as stipulated by the road traffic act. Every haulage driver has to have his driver’s license endorsed every year by the central vehicle registry to indicate that he has conducted the Medical examination and is fit to continue driving the public vehicle.

Food Handler Exam

The Public Health Act requires that workers operating in the food processing industry be examined at least twice a year to ensure that they do not have transmittable diseases such as TB and Salmonella since they handle food for the general public. Companies in the food processing industry such as bakeries, Hotels, Restaurants, Catering Services, Abattoirs, Beverages, Meat, Chicken and Fish processors need to carry out

Pneumoconiosis Exam

The pneumoconiosis Act requires that all workers subjected to dust ad fumes to have medical examinations done at least once a year to monitor any chest and general body condition resulting from the exposure to the dust environment. Various companies that operate under these dusty conditions such as Mines, Manufacturing, Construction, farming etc, are mandated to carry out these examinations to their employees.
