The Pneumoconiosis Act requires that companies operating in dusty environments such as mines and manufacturing organizations examine their workers at least once a year to screen them against any possible respiratory infections. On the same score the Public Health Act requires that workers operating in the food processing industry be examined at least twice a year to ensure that they do not have transmittable diseases such as TB and Salmonella since they handle food for the general public.

To carry out these examinations, companies have to transport their workers to the nearest health centre, which can result in loss of production-man hours. It is for this reason that DX Centre developed the Mobile Examination Concept – supported by fixed centres – where the x-ray machine, laboratory samples and the doctor are brought to the company premises to carry out these examinations. This saves the companies on the production man-hours, fuel cost and administration time.
